has a website that includes official announcements from the China Center
for Adoption Affairs. Included on this site are the specifications
released in June 1998 as to the requirements for the two post placement
reports that are now required by CCAA.

Health and Medical Information The
scientific information on the health of children adopted from China is
limited but favorable. Here are links to what we have available. In the

Looking for a Chinese school in your area? Here is the website of the
Chinese School Association which may
help you out.
You will need to apply for a Social Security Number for your child.
The current application form
including instructions are available online. They also have a search
engine to locate
your nearest Social Security Office or you can look in your phone
book. You will need to bring the childs birth and adoption certificates,
green card, and your drivers license. Take the child and all of the
documents to your local social security office and fill out the one page
application. The clerk will make copies of documents 1-4 and gives you
the originals back on the spot. You should receive the card in the mail
in about 6 weeks. You can do this by mail but this requires you to mail
the original documents to SSA. Note that single parents may ignore the
item in the instructions about supplying the SSN for the non-existant
other parent.
Passports: Following the effective date of the Child
Citizenship Act of 2000, the State Department has posted an
FAQ sheet that
includes instructions on how to apply for a passport for an adopted
child in the absence of the hard to obtain citizenship certificate.
