'TheMall' increases by another 12 stores

- December 2, 2007. We have a new chapter in the Quad Cities area of
Iowa & Illinois as well as the usual updates in the
chapter listings. 'TheMall'
has 8 new stores for your holiday shopping.
- September 25, 2007. There are two new research studies on the
home page. Please support research in the
area of China adoptions. We have a new chapter in Great Falls, Montana
as well as the usual updates in the chapter
listings. 'TheMall' has 11 new
stores for your fall shopping pleasure.
- July 22, 2007. Immigration lawyer and China parent C.J. Lydford has
once again updated one of her highly valuable articles:

How To Get This Proof . We have new groups in the southern
Mississippi, and central Florida areas on the chapter
listings page as well as many updates. 'TheMall'
continues to grow.
- April 27, 2007. We have new groups in the Midland MI, and Reno NV
areas on the chapter listings page as well
as many updates. 'TheMall' continues to
grow with 11 new stores.
- January 27, 2007. The new regulations issued by CCAA have been linked
in the interim updates, Click here to
read the current text. There are three new chapters on the
chapter listings page. They are located in
Winchester, VA; Tuscarawas county, OH; and Decatur, AL.
'TheMall' listings have been purged of 54
defunct stores thanks to the sterling work of Mary Balciar who checked
all 346 listings.
- October 29, 2006. A new chapter in Northern Arizona can be found on
the chapter listings page. Updates and
corrections have been made on a number of pages.
- August 12, 2006. We have three new chapters on the
chapter listings page, in Wilmington NC,
Martin county FL and surrounding areas, and the Danville, South Boston,
& Martinsville VA region. There are several new research studies on
the home page, and'TheMall' continues to
grow.
- May 15, 2006. We have a new chapter in Mississippi, many other
updates in the chapter listings, and
'TheMall' has expanded to 315.
- February 25, 2006. The more interesting news is that an alert
Chinese-American mother has located two additional growth charts on the
web. See the Growth Charts page for
details and links. We have a record seven new chapter
listings for groups in: South Central Idaho, Foothills region of
NC, South Central Wisconsin, Athens AL, York PA, Buffalo NY, and
Southern Mississippi. There are two chartible organizations and 12 more
stores in 'TheMall', bringing the total to
307.
- December 16, 2005. Finally found enough of a gap in the holiday
schedule to post an update. Under the amazing things people do category,
please read the article Impossible is Nothing
by a women who has opened an orphanage in China. There are two
additional research studies listed on the home page. We send a welcome
aboard to two new FCC chapters in
Bloomington, IN and in Helena, Montana. The Mall
has increased by another 12 stores just in time for your last minute
holiday shopping.
- October 9, 2005. Chinese adoptive families seem to have weathered the
recent hurricanes better than most. While much help was volunteered, so
far, little has turned out to be needed. Many, many thanks to all who
volunteered to help. Otherwise, this update has three new research
studies, on Family Communication from the University of Denver, on
Transracial Adjustment from Suffolk University, and on Language
Development from Harvard University. Otherwise we have new chapters in
Northwest Alabama; Thief River Falls, MN; and South Florida along with a
number of updates to the chapter listings.
'TheMall' had added 13 more stores for a
total of 283 places do do your early holiday shopping.
- July 31, 2005. Nice weather on summer weekends does not make for
frequent website updates. The excellent Dr. Debbi Borchers has provided
updates to Helpful Medical Items to take to
China for Your Child and to An
Open Letter to Pediatricians on Chinese Adoption Medical Issues,
both worth looking at before travel to China. The Birth Mother Letters
Project is closed, see the update
for the latest information. We also have four new chapters in Rocky
Mount, NC; Tacoma, WA; North Louisiana; and NE Mississippi.
'TheMall' is up to 270 stores for your
shopping enjoyment.
- April 24, 2005. Immigration lawyer and China parent C.J. Lydford has

involve? Some things to consider regarding readoption., and
Why and how to get proof of U.S.
citizenship under the Child Citizenship Act for you foreign-born
adopted child to reflect recent changes in immigration law. Many
thanks to C.J. for keeping these documents up to date. A bumper crop of
new chapters have been added to this update, we have five (!) new
chapters in Lansing, MI; Gainesville, FL; Iowa City, IA; Tulsa, OK; and
Idaho Falls, ID; welcome to all. Finally 'TheMall'
is now up to 257 stores for your shopping enjoyment.
- February 28, 2005. Happy Year of the Rooster to all. A snowstorm has
given me the time to finally get to the update. On the good news front,
Kailee Wells has
at long last gotten her bone marrow transplant and so far is doing
reasonably well. Please keep her and the other two children still
waiting for transplants in your prayers. There is also a
research project at
Purdue University studying calcium metablism in Chinese
adolescents that is recruiting for volunteers in a summer camp format,
see the front page for details. On the more mundane front, we have the
usual updates to the chapter listings
including new chapters in Colorado Springs, CO; Ashland, KY; and West
Central Florida. Finally we have 10 new stores in
'TheMall'.
- December 11, 2004. A new chapter is listed in Columbia county, PA,
see the chapter listings for this and other
updated chapter listings.We have a new charitable organization based in
London on our Charitable Organizations
page. See the home page for the interesting
birth mother letter project. The
Mall continues to grow with 9 new stores bringing the current inventory
to 238, look out Mall of America!

- August 11, 2004. A quiet summer with good weather. Hard to find time
to sit at the PC. A number of updates to the chapter
listings and 'The Mall', which is
now up to 228 stores.
- May 31, 2004. Spring is sprung, the cicadas are buzzing and the
update is finally posted. BCIS has been busy and has updated the
procedures for obtaining certificates of citizenship, see the
updated article by C.J. Lydford for
all of the latest details. The fees have also gone up as well see the
news page for the details. Welcome to the three
new FCC chapters in Wimberly, TX; Jefferson City, MO; and Culpepper VA;
find them in the updated chapter listings.
'The Mall' has 10 new listings and the
current population is 219 (!).
- March 21, 2004. Spring is on the way, or at least trying to put in an
appearance. For all children arriving after 1/17/2004, BCIS will send
along a certificate of citizenship automatically if the child arrives on
an IR3 visa. For new arrivals on an IR4 and adoptions before that date,
the N600 will still be needed. We have a new chapter in Mayfield KY
(welcome) in the updated chapter listings,
and a total of 13 new listings in 'The Mall'
bringing the current inventory to 210.
- January 25, 2004. Best wishes to all for a happy and prosperous Year
of the Monkey. This update starts off with the 2004 version of the
FCC National Appeal, which is
always a good place to donate. The USCIS (aka BCIS, aka INS) will start
automatically issueing Certificates of Citizenship within 45 days of
entry of newly adopted children on IR-3 visas,

become a U.S. citizen under the Child Citizenship Act? Some comments
on the Child Citizenship Act of 2000 as it applies to foreign-born
adopted children to reflect recent changes in immigration law. An
additional item on a newly enforced regulation for children applying for
a visa to China for the first time is in the News
page. There are a number of updates to the chapter
listings and to 'The Mall'.
- September 14, 2003. The U.S. census department has issued a
report on
adoption based on data collected during the 2000 census. There are the
usual updates to the chapter listings,
including new chapters in Northeast Alabama and the Shenandoah Valley of
Virginia, and to the 'The Mall'.
- August 2, 2003. No serious news with this somewhat delayed full
update. Adoptions are proceeding after the SARS-induced pause. The
disease itself appears to be under control. This update has many updates
to the chapter listings and the
'The Mall' and new entries on the
Charitable Organizationspage. Enjoy the
rest of the summer.
- May 18, 2003. The serious news is the
pause in referrals and travel permissions due to the SARS epidemic in
China. This is expected to remain in place until SARS in brought under
control. Links to the latest information on the epidemic can be found on
the SARS page. We have a
new chapter in North Carolina in the
Catawba Valley region as well as updates and corrections. The
summer camps page has some new additions as
does the Charitable Organizationspage.
Finally there are five more new stores in
'The Mall'.
- March 23, 2003. A more serious update this time. Families who have
traveled to China since Feb 1, 2003 or who will be going to China should
check the SARS page for the latest
information about this serious disease. CCAA has issued updated
regulations concerning the basic China adoption process, see the
News page for links. The chapter
listings have been updated and we have an additional 9 stores in
'The Mall'.
- February 7, 2003. Happy Year of the Ram. The appearance of an FCC
family on the Today Show is back on the schedule, and a three part
program on the Chinese experience in America will be broadcast on PBS.
See the news page for details. We have added a
page to list summer camps of special interest
to FCC families. Barbara Burke sent in a link to their outstanding
resource on
financing
an adopton including sources for grants
and loans! A large Thank You for
assembling this excellent collection. 'The
Mall' continues to grow with eight new listings, now up to a total
of 173 places to spend any dollars remaining after the holidays.
- January 3, 2003. Happy Western New Years. The lifting of the formal
quota for China adoptions and the small increase in the single parent
quota is on the news page. We have one new
chapter in Shanghai, China on the chapter
listings page as well as the usual updates.
'The Mall' has three new businesses
listed.
- November 16, 2002. A child adopted from China needs a bone marrow
transplant, donors of Chinese ancestry, 18 or older are needed. See the
article Can
You Save Kailee? for full details. An update to the
number of adoptions from China to the US
in Fiscal Year 2002 of 5,053. 'The Mall'
continues to grow with a number of new listings, now up to a total of
165 places to spend your holiday dollars.
- October 5, 2002. Our newest significant addition is the
China Medical Directory, a listing
of hospitals and clinics in China that are expected to have
english-speaking staff to help traveling parents with medical
situations. A large thank you to Todd Ochs, MD for compiling this
information. We have one new chapter, Gulf Coast (FL) on the
chapter listings page as well as the usual
updates. 'The Mall' has ten (!) new
businesses listed.
- August 22, 2002. The big news is that there will be a National FCC
newsletter, see the news page for the details
available so far. In addition, FCC has received an
award from the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute.
Within the website, we are adding the beginnings of a major new section
dealing with post-adoption issues and
information. The site has tended to concentrate on the adoption
process itself, with this new section, we hope to link information on
issues that may arise in the years after the adoption is completed. In
the updates section, we have two new listings in the
Charitable Organizations page, the
Alliance for Children Foundation, and Heartland Medical Express. On the
chapter listings page we have the usual
updates and two new chapters: Chattanooga, TN and Frankfort, KY.
Finally, in 'The Mall' we have five new
business listings, including our first from England (Pink Bamboo).
- July 12, 2002. We have several important new articles starting with
HIV Testing in International Adoptees By
Todd J. Ochs, M.D., and Deborah Borchers, M.D, which has the very latest
recommedations on this imporant issue. In addition, a welcome new

page for the current list. Finally, we have two additions from
helpful readers added to our list of ideas on how
to finance your China adoption.
- May 18, 2002. The most significant item is the addition of a
complete collection of the laws and
regulations issued by CCAA over the years governing all aspects of the
China adoption process. On the less profound side, for new families,
there is a listing of all of those abbreviations
like DTC that can be initially confusing. There are a number of updates
to our chapter listings includine three new
chapters, in Lebanon, PA, Central Alabama, and the
Greenville-Spartanburg area of South Carolina, welcome to all. Nine new
stores have opened for business in 'The Mall',
and we have two new book reviews listed,
for the books 'Peach Girl, and Wuhu Diary.
- March 10, 2002. We have a significant number of updates to the FCC
including three new chapters in Atlantic County, New Jersey, South
Alabama, and the Southern Tier of New York. . There is a link to a new
sociological
study of attachment in China adoptive families from Jay Rojewski &
colleagues from the University of Georgia. They recently published
'Intercountry Adoption from China', which was an internet based survey
that we linked to as part of our support for research about the China
adoption process. Finally we have updated the graph
of annual adoptions from China with 4681 adoptions to the U.S. in
fiscal year 2001.
- February 2, 2002. This update is a large update of FCC
