online. We now have a link to the current document on the U. S. State
Department web site. This is a good overview of adoption from China,
this lengthy document (29 printed pages!) details the current situation
and requirements for adoption from China.
- The U. S. State Dept. Consular
Affairs website. Has general travel related information.
- The
Consular
Information Sheet from the U.S. State Department has the general
information about travel to China and any current advisories or
warnings.
- The US Embassy in Beijing
has a website that includes official announcements from the China Center
for Adoption Affairs.
- The entire U.S. Justice Department document
The
Immigration of Adopted and Prospective Adoptive Children that
details the U.S. government procedures required for China adoptions.

- The U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services page with information about
USCIS procedures for adopting a child from abroad. This includes links
to other related USCIS pages.
- Adoption from China requires the prospective adoptive parents to
assemble a variety of documents. These include certified birth
certificates, marriage certificates, and divorce decrees among others.
These can be obtained from the
state vital
records agency, and authenticated by the Secretary of State of
that state. These addresses and phone numbers have been assembled from a
